The long series of rock band festivals that were held in Asia, North America, and Europe, beginning from the year 1996 in order to support the cause for the independence of Tibet, was famously known by the name of Tibetan Freedom Concert. Such concerts were initially organized by the Milarepa Fund and the Beastie Boys to support the cause. The whole idea of organizing live aid style concerts for the cause of Tibet was conceived by the members of the group when they were on the Lollapalooza Tour in the year 1994. The festival of Tibet was a huge event.
How Did It All Start?
The very first concert was organized in May 1996 in the city if San Francisco and showcased groups such as Björk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cibo Matto, Smashing Pumpkins, De La Soul and Rage Against the Machine. The grand show pulled a staggering 100,000 folks and raised more than $800,000 to help the causes of Tibet and social justice. More such shows were organized till 2003, which resulted in an increased level of awareness in the general public regarding the plight of Tibet, more notably in the younger people. Such shows encouraged the rise of Students for a free Tibet in the whole world.
The Lightning Strike At Washington D.C.
When Herbie Hancock started his show during his convert at the Washington D.C. in June 1998 at around 3 PM, a storm started forming over the RFK stadium which is an open-air stadium. As Hancock was playing lightning struck one of the fans, Lysa Selfon. She was quickly revived at the site and quickly taken to the trauma unit of the local hospital, and she was moved the very next day to D.C. General Hospital. Twelve more people got injured out of which 4 were critically hurt. Selfon had the worst of the injuries and a large number of performers visited here in the hospital. She had the worst burns on her chest, where electricity had been attracted by her underwire bra and was also the most probable cause of heart attack. Red Hot Chili Peppers and R.E.M., Radiohead (who were originally scheduled to perform on the first day of the concert) returned so that they could perform on the following day.
Peace & Love With CaughtFapping
CaughtFapping is the newest project of Adult Time Network – the unofficial Netflix of porn. With its unique approach to the new series you can always expect something as shocking as really interesting to take a look at. This is exact case with their newest production, where step family members get caught during their private moments of being alone. What happens next? The usual. 😉
The Empty Event At Geneva
The event was organized on 8th July 2012 on Place des Nations, in front of the United Nations. This event was started by the march of Tibet artist, Loten Namlings, called Journey for Freedom. The march started from the Swiss capital Bern and finished at Geneva. The march was undertaken to attract the attention of general public to the situation of Tibetans in the day’s China. The concert was performed and also supported by him and close to fifteen other musicians, most noteworthy of whom was the Swiss musician, Franz Treichler and his band called The Young Gods. The problem, unfortunately, was that the event was attended only by several hundred people.
A lot more events were organized in the other parts of the world as part of the Tibetan Freedom Concert to garner support for the Tibetan cause.
